Developing projects for public sector consultationClient: Sentiment360 Published: September 2016
We were introduced and recommended to Sentiment 360 by another Stephanie Elsy associates client. Sentiment 360 (S360) were looking for advice on how to develop their online feedback platform to be applicable to public consultation for public sector clients.
S360 wanted to expand the potential role of their online feedback platform into the next generation of engagement and analytics for surveying public opinion on public community issues. They also wanted to find public sector pilots to test the software and platform in order to develop reference-ability and improve the product in the public sector and community space.
GGI: What we did
Firstly, we introduced S360 to another of our clients, the Good Governance Institute (GGI) who have worked for many years with NHS organisations, helping them to improve their performance. Working together, S360, Stephanie Elsy Associates and GGI developed a series of packages for employee and public consultation pilots within one of GGI’s clients, the Barking and Dagenham NHS Trust. We worked with the GGI and Barking and Dagenham teams to develop the digital survey tool to help in the Trust’s engagement programme with its staff, find out more about Octofeedback here. GGI delivered the pilot with Sentiment 360 and we worked with them to write-up a case study of the pilot and what it achieved. This particular project called ‘Improving quality through staff engagement and awareness’ is an educational patient safety campaign working with Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Trust (BHRUT) and was part of a larger clinical quality governance transformation programme.
As a result of this innovative piece of work, the GGI were shortlisted year for the Health Service Journal Value Awards in the Communication category in recognition of the clinical governance work and their commitment to improving service quality. Read more about it here.
The Barking and Dagenham NHS trust continue to use the Sentiment 360 digital survey tool to expand the reach of their staff engagement program.
The Emsworth Forum: What We Did
Secondly, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, Stephanie Elsy Associates offered the services of S360 to help with the public consultations conducted by the Emsworth Forum, which Stephanie Elsy Chairs. The Emsworth Forum is developing a Neighbourhood Plan for Emsworth. In the first instance, we piloted the software for a consultation on the future of the Emsworth Victoria Cottage Hospital in Autumn 2015. We then created another survey in August 2016 using the S360 Octofeedback product to consult local people on the Havant Borough Council Draft Housing Statement 2036.
The Hospital survey collected over 700 responses from local residents, businesses and interested parties which enabled the Forum to engage meaningfully with the local Clinical Commissioning Group on the future of primary care services in the town. The later housing consultation will feed into the Neighbourhood Forums work with Havant Council on their new Local Plan.
Stephanie Elsy has worked closely with us on a number of pilots that have helped us to shape our offering and develop our understanding of the public sector marketplace. As a result we have been able to cite successful application of Octofeedback to our investors and customers at a critical stage of the development of our business. She is an expert in the public and community space and understands commercial drivers and business development – a rare combination.
